Steve Collett, Team England Manager at the 2018 World Lure Angling Championships
Steve carries a large and varied angling CV becoming the first person to secure major titles in all disciplines – coarse, sea and game. The highlight of his fishing career was winning the Division One National in 2010.
Since then, Steve has honed his skills on a title that has eluded him, a World Championship. Over the past few years Steve has chalked up over fifty wins in serious lure fishing contests securing a European Championship Gold and two British Championships, and he new has his sights firmly set on taking a team medal at this year’s World Champs.
On his appointment in 2017 as Team England Manager, Steve said: “We start today with a clean sheet and are looking to build the sport of lure fishing long term. Lure fishing is growing rapidly in the UK and it is only right that we, as a nation, should have an ambition. It’s no secret that I like winning and we will now be developing a side that can compete at the highest level on the International competition stage.”
When Steve isn’t wearing his fishing hat, he is writing his weekly column for the Anglers Mail or one of the many other magazines across the world that he contributes to.
Aged 45 and living in Nottinghamshire with his family, the World Championships has become his obsession, so the golf clubs and racing cars have been put away.
